Reverse description Full-length frontal depiction of the Australian bushranger Ned Kelly clad in his iconic hand-fashioned iron suit of armour, including the distinctive rectangular helmet with a narrow eye slit, rendered in high relief against a plain field. Additional information

Ned Kelly was hanged at Melbourne Gaol in November 1880, aged 25, after a siege at Glenrowan in which he wore a homemade suit of plate armour that stopped police bullets but left his legs exposed. The Cook Islands has no historical connection to Kelly whatsoever — this is a bullion novelty issued under the Pacific nation's licensing arrangements, which have produced hundreds of such themed micro-gold pieces for the collector market since the 2000s.
