The Marine Life Protection series, issued through the early 2000s under license arrangements common to smaller Pacific sovereigns, was produced primarily for the collector market rather than domestic circulation. Solomon Islands had no realistic expectation these would pass through local commerce — the islands' everyday economy ran on far smaller denominations.
