The "Lady with an Ermine" is one of Leonardo da Vinci's four surviving portraits, painted around 1489–1490 and believed to depict Cecilia Gallerani, mistress of Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan. The painting remained in Polish private hands for centuries before being acquired by Prince Adam Jerzy Czartoryski in the late 18th century — it is now held in Kraków's Czartoryski Museum. Solomon Islands has issued a long-running series of art-themed bullion dollars under this program, pairing the Pacific issuer with entirely unrelated European cultural subjects purely as a vehicle for the silver content.
