Obverse description The obverse features a right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth definitive portrait, depicted diademed and draped, with the engraver's initials IRB truncated below the bust. The portrait is set within a central oval cartouche, flanked by elaborate baroque scrollwork and symmetrical palmette ornaments extending into the four lobes of the cushion-shaped flan. Above the effigy, a highly detailed grotesque mask surmounts an ornate architectural cartouche, while below the portrait appears a stylized Tokelauan motif and a seashell finial with foliate decoration. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs to the left and TOKELAU 2014 to the right of the central oval, with ONE DOLLAR and the fineness inscription 1 oz. Ag999 inscribed in the lower field.
