| Additional information |
Karel Kuttelwascher was a Czech RAF fighter pilot who became one of the most effective night intruder pilots of World War II, credited with 18 confirmed aerial kills — the majority achieved alone, at night, stalking Luftwaffe bombers returning to their French bases in a single-seat Hurricane. His 1942 campaign over occupied France was so lethally effective that the Germans reportedly nicknamed him "the night hawk of the RAF." He died in 1959, largely forgotten outside Czechoslovakia.
Niue's RAF aces series uses the .999 silver format favored by commemorative programs targeting Czech and Slovak collector markets, where Kuttelwascher retains particular national significance.
