Reverse description The reverse features a colourized depiction of the planet Jupiter occupying the left and upper central field, with its distinctive banded cloud formations and the Great Red Spot rendered in vivid polychrome colour printing. Superimposed before the planet is a fine relief figure of the enthroned god Jupiter, bearded and laureate, draped about the lower body, holding a thunderbolt in his left hand and a long sceptre in his right, with an eagle standing at his feet to the right. To the right of the figure appears the astronomical symbol for Jupiter. The arcing legend INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF ASTRONOMY 2009 runs along the upper rim, flanked by stars, and the inscription JUPITER, also flanked by stars, appears along the lower rim.
