| Additional information |
Joanna of Rožmitál was a Bohemian noblewoman whose brother, Lev of Rožmitál, undertook an extensive diplomatic tour of Western Europe between 1465 and 1467 on behalf of the Bohemian king George of Poděbrady. The journey was recorded in detail by two members of the party and remains one of the more vivid firsthand accounts of 15th-century European courts. Niue's numismatic program has repeatedly mined this kind of Central European medieval history — subjects with virtually no connection to the island itself — as commercial collectibles for the European market.
