| Obverse description | The obverse is struck in the form of an ornate antique key, with the upper bow elaborately decorated with scrolling acanthus-style filigree relief work against a mirror-proof field. At the centre of the bow, the right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley is set within an oval cartouche. The key shank extends downward, rendered as a turned baluster column with classical mouldings. The legends ELIZABETH II and NIUE 1 DOLLAR appear vertically along the left and right sides of the shank respectively, with decorative key-bit motifs flanking the base. |

| Reverse description | The reverse, shaped as the lower portion of an ornate key, depicts an open door rendered in high relief against a deeply frosted black field, evoking the threshold of a new home. A gold-plated cat — a traditional Russian housewarming symbol — stands in the foreground before the doorway, its tail raised, executed with fine sculptural detail. The lower section features an ornamental parquet flooring pattern in relief. The Cyrillic housewarming greeting С НОВОСЕЛЬЕМ! (meaning 'Congratulations on your new home!') appears in flowing script to the upper left. The year 2011 is inscribed at lower left and the fineness mark Ag 925 at lower right. |
