Obverse description The obverse is struck in the form of an ornate antique key, with the upper bow elaborately decorated with scrolling acanthus-style filigree relief work against a mirror-proof field. At the centre of the bow, the right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley is set within an oval cartouche. The key shank extends downward, rendered as a turned baluster column with classical mouldings. The legends ELIZABETH II and NIUE 1 DOLLAR appear vertically along the left and right sides of the shank respectively, with decorative key-bit motifs flanking the base.
