| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, pearl drop earrings, and a pearl necklace, as designed by Raphael David Maklouf. The third portrait of the Queen is rendered in high relief against a mirrored proof field. The legend QUEEN ELIZABETH II arcs across the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 DOLLAR, the issuer TUVALU, and the date 2008 are distributed around the lower portion of the coin. The engraver's initials RDM appear in small letters beneath the truncation of the bust. |
