Reverse description The reverse features a right-facing bust of Hannibal Barca wearing a crested military helmet, positioned centrally in the upper field, flanked by the curved legend 'HANNIBAL' to the left and 'BARKAS' to the right. Three armored war elephants with ornate howdahs and riders armed with spears advance in procession across a mountainous landscape below, one elephant shown in partial silhouette at the right. The dates '247–183 BC' are inscribed in the lower exergue. The composition is rendered in high relief with a frosted design against mirror-polished fields consistent with proof coinage. The engraver's initials 'SM' appear in the lower field.
