| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Nauru occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield supported by two frigate bird wings; the upper quarters bear a star and a traditional woven pattern, while the lower quarters feature a frigatebird perched above waves and a flowering tomano branch respectively. A ribbon below the shield bears the motto GOD'S WILL FIRST, and a scroll above reads NAOERO. The circular legend BANK OF NAURU runs along the upper periphery, with two small pellets flanking the lower field, and the date 2009 appears prominently at the bottom. |

| Reverse description | A stylised guardian angel rendered in a flowing, art-nouveau-inspired manner is depicted in full figure at centre, standing with hands clasped together in prayer and large sweeping wings extending to either side. The angel's elaborately coiffed hair is adorned with seven inlaid Swarovski crystal gemstones arranged across the crown of the head. The legend GUARDIAN ANGEL curves along the right periphery, while the denomination 1 DOLLAR is inscribed along the lower left. |
