Additional information

Tuvalu's legal tender coinage has never circulated domestically in any meaningful sense — the islands use Australian dollars in daily commerce. These silver issues exist entirely within the collector market, licensed through the Perth Mint under agreements that allow Tuvalu to generate revenue from numismatic sales, one of the few income streams available to a nation of roughly 10,000 people with almost no exportable resources and a land mass under 26 square kilometers.
