| Obverse description | Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, rendered after the fourth definitive portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicted wearing a diamond diadem and pearl earrings. The portrait is set within a circular raised border, centered on the rectangular silver planchet. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left side of the border, with NIUE and the date 2016 along the right. The denomination 1 DOLLAR appears along the lower arc of the border, with intervening raised dots as separators. The fineness mark Ag 999 is inscribed in a rectangular cartouche at the lower portion of the field, and the engraver's initials IRB appear below the portrait. |
