Additional information

Part of the Perth Mint's long-running bullion and collector program for Tuvalu, this piece belongs to a falcon-themed issue that drew on the medieval practice of punch-marking — a method used across centuries of European and Asian coinage to verify metal content or transfer monetary authority between jurisdictions. The association is decorative rather than documentary; no punch-marking tradition specific to Tuvalu exists.

Tuvalu's coinage rights derive from a 1976 currency arrangement following separation from the Gilbert and Ellice Islands colony. The Perth Mint has since served as the practical issuing authority for virtually all Tuvaluan collector coin production.
