Obverse description Right-facing diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and crown. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left periphery, while COOK ISLANDS arcs along the right, and the denomination 1 DOLLAR is inscribed across the upper field. The date appears in the lower exergue. The portrait is consistent with the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy style used on Commonwealth coinage.

Additional information

Issued to mark the 60th wedding anniversary of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 2007, this is a commemorative piece from Cook Islands, a territory that has long used its nominal monetary authority to produce collectible issues with no meaningful circulation function. The gold plating over copper-nickel keeps production costs low while targeting the gift and souvenir market rather than serious numismatic collectors.
