Additional information

Cook Islands issued a substantial run of wildlife-themed dollar coins throughout the 1990s under licensing arrangements that had little to do with local monetary needs — these pieces were produced for the collector market and rarely, if ever, circulated on the islands themselves. KM#346 is one of dozens of such types struck during this period, with the Royal Mint and various private mints producing them on contract.
