| Obverse description | The obverse of this oval proof coin features the diademed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing profile, set within a radiate inner circle and framed by an elaborate rococo-style scrollwork surround reminiscent of Fabergé decorative motifs. Below the portrait, the legend ELIZABETH II is inscribed in the field. In the lower portion of the design, a detailed decorative basket with floral elements is flanked by two crossed sceptres, all rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished background. The issuer legend NIUE ISLAND arcs along the upper rim, with the denomination 1 DOLLAR along the left edge and the date 2012 along the right edge. The fineness mark Ag 925 appears at the base of the design. |
