| Obverse description | The obverse features the right-facing diademed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, set within an elaborate ornate baroque cartouche in high relief. The legend NIUE ISLAND arcs along the upper rim, with the denomination 1 DOLLAR inscribed vertically on the left and the date 2012 on the right. The name ELIZABETH II appears beneath the portrait in the lower central field. Below the effigy, an ornamental basket of flowers flanked by crossed sceptres and decorative scrollwork fills the lower portion of the oval field. The fineness mark Ag925 appears at the base, and the mintmaster initials mw are present on the obverse. |
