Additional information

Part of a Cook Islands wildlife series issued in the late 1990s, these dollars were struck by foreign mints under license and never circulated domestically — Cook Islands has used New Zealand currency in everyday commerce since 1995, making its own coinage a pure numismatic product from the outset. The .9999 fineness is notably higher than the .999 standard common to most modern bullion issues of the period.
