| Reverse description | A full-body colored depiction of a brown bear (Ursus arctos) walking in profile to the right across a green grassy hillock, rendered in naturalistic color print against the coin's surface. Below the colored bear, a detailed uncolored raised relief portrait of a bear's head and shoulders is struck in the lower field, providing a contrasting sculptural element. The legend MEDVĚD HNĚDÝ - URSUS ARCTOS arcs around the upper periphery of the coin in incuse Latin lettering, giving both the Czech common name and the Linnaean binomial of the species. |

Niue's wildlife-themed silver dollar program occupies an odd corner of the numismatic world — the island nation of roughly 1,600 people has functioned since the 1990s as a licensing vehicle for foreign mints, primarily New Zealand and Polish operators, producing collectibles with no meaningful connection to Niuean commerce or fauna.
This brown bear issue almost certainly originates from the Mennica Polska mint in Warsaw, which struck the bulk of Niue's animal series during this period under contract.
