Bolek i Lolek, the Polish animated series created at the Kraków studio of Se-Ma-For, ran from 1963 to 1986 and became one of the most exported Eastern Bloc cartoons of the Cold War period. Niue has issued numerous licensed pop-culture silver coins of this format, largely marketed to the Polish collector market rather than circulating domestically — the island's GDP would not sustain demand for a coin honoring two fictional Polish boys.
