| Obverse description | The diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right at the upper center of the coin, rendered in high relief against a darkened field. The surrounding annular border is divided into two concentric rings of raised beads. The legend ELIZABETH II appears to the left and COOK ISLANDS to the right, with ONE DOLLAR inscribed along the lower arc, all separated by raised dot stops. The recessed central zone features an ornamental convex disc with an elaborate interlocking scale or wave pattern in matte finish, framed by a polished stepped collar. |

| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a fully rendered ram standing in left profile at center-left, modeled in fine matte relief against a deeply darkened field. At center, a transparent domed capsule is set into the coin, enclosing multiple loose bloodstone gemstones. Radiating outward from the capsule are stylized solar rays extending toward the rim. The astrological symbol for Aries is prominently displayed to the lower right in polished relief. No inscriptions appear on the reverse. |

Part of Cook Islands' early-2000s run of zodiac gemstone dollars, this piece was produced during a period when the island's licensing arrangements with overseas minting houses generated a flood of novelty collector issues bearing the Cook Islands name despite negligible local circulation. The encapsulated bloodstone — a dark green chalcedony with red iron oxide inclusions — is a historically attested birthstone for Aries, referenced as far back as medieval lapidaries.
