Reverse description The reverse presents an elaborate composition evoking the ancient Roman city of Aquileia, a key terminus of the Amber Route. At upper left, a group of Roman Corinthian columns rises against a background featuring a large mosaic-style face rendered in high relief. The Capitoline Wolf suckling the twins Romulus and Remus occupies the central field, while to the lower right an intaglio-style depiction of a Roman coin bearing the portrait of Emperor Nero is struck in relief. A genuine inlaid amber stone cabochon is set into the lower centre of the field. The legend AQUILEIA arcs prominently along the upper rim in bold capital letters.
