This piece is one of thousands of collector-market silver dollars issued by Tuvalu under licensing arrangements that effectively rent the country's monetary authority to foreign minting companies — primarily Perth Mint — in exchange for seigniorage revenue. Tuvalu's own GDP makes such arrangements economically significant to the issuer, even as the coins never circulate domestically.
