The Perth Mint's lunar series dollar has been an annual fixture since the late 1990s, cycling through the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac and targeting collector demand across Southeast Asia and the Chinese diaspora. The Tiger year issues have historically seen stronger secondary market absorption than mid-cycle animals, though the 2022 piece competes against the Mint's own silver bullion Tiger releases from the same year, which drew considerably more collector attention.
