The Great Aussie Coin Hunt returned for a second run in 2021, again partnering with supermarket chain Woolworths to distribute themed dollars through change — a circulation-release model the Royal Australian Mint had used successfully in the first Hunt series in 2019. Letter Z, as the terminal entry in a 26-coin alphabet set, tends to accumulate in collections as a bookend piece rather than circulating freely. The series was designed explicitly to revive handling of physical currency among younger Australians during a period of accelerating card and contactless payment adoption.
