| Reverse description | The reverse features a richly coloured depiction of an Australian black swan (Cygnus atratus) rendered with striking naturalistic detail, shown in three-quarter view with its gracefully curved neck and layered plumage highlighted in iridescent tones of lavender, gold, and pearl against a serene wetland backdrop of open water beneath a warm sunset sky. The bird floats centrally in the coloured field, its detailed feathering conveying both movement and tranquility. The encircling legend THE 1oz 9999 AUSTRALIAN SILVER SWAN arcs around the periphery, and the Perth Mint's privy mark P appears discreetly to the right of the swan in the field. |

The Swan series from Perth Mint began in 2017 as a direct competitor to established annual silver programs like the Britannia and Maple Leaf, targeting the international bullion market with a design that rotates each year. The 6th portrait of Elizabeth II — sculpted by Jody Clark — was still the regnant effigy when this coin was struck, but the Queen died in September 2022, meaning production planning for this 2023 issue almost certainly straddled the accession of Charles III. Perth elected to retain the Elizabeth II obverse rather than retool mid-series.
