Reverse description The reverse features two confronting Pixiu — mythical Chinese chimeric creatures associated with good fortune and wealth — rendered in high relief and facing each other symmetrically across the central axis of the coin. Each Pixiu is depicted with a leonine head, curling mane, scaled body, and clawed feet, resting upon an abundant pile of gold ingots, coins, and auspicious blossoms that fill the lower field. A traditional Chinese geometric key-fret border encircles the entire design along the rim. The Perth Mint's 'P' mint mark appears at the top centre of the design, with the engraver's initials IJ visible in the lower right field.

Additional information

The pixiu is a Chinese mythological creature believed to ward off evil and attract wealth, making it a fixture in feng shui practice and a reliable commercial draw for Perth Mint's bullion program targeting Asian collector markets. This 2020 release pairs two of the creatures — a deliberate choice, as the male and female are traditionally depicted together, the male drawing in wealth and the female retaining it. Perth has leaned heavily into this symbolism across multiple annual releases, each iteration selling primarily through Hong Kong and mainland Chinese distribution channels.
