Reverse description The reverse depicts two highly detailed mice resting together in a woven straw nest, with a cluster of gourds rendered in fine relief to the left background, evoking traditional Chinese symbolism of abundance and prosperity. The Chinese character for mouse or rat (鼠) appears prominently in the upper right field. The Perth Mint's P mintmark is situated at the upper left. The legend YEAR OF THE MOUSE arcs in decorative script along the lower periphery, completing the Lunar Series II design celebrating the Chinese zodiac.
