Reverse description A full-body coloured depiction of a standing bay horse faces left in the centre of the square field, rendered in polychrome enamel after the celebrated court painting by Giuseppe Castiglione (Lang Shining) from 1743. To the left of the horse, the Chinese title '自在騎' (Free Rider) is inscribed vertically. To the upper right, two red imperial seal stamps appear, with vertical columns of Chinese calligraphic text reading '乾隆癸亥孟春海西臣郎世寧恭書', identifying the work as respectfully written by Lang Shining in the first month of spring of the Guihai year of the Qianlong era. The Perth Mint 'P' mintmark appears at the bottom centre of the field.
