| Reverse description | Central design features a stylized saguaro cactus rising prominently from a North American desert landscape, with additional desert flora and rocky terrain rendered in the background field. A circular cutout at the centre of the composition is set with a genuine turquoise gemstone, serving as the focal element of the design. The reverse legend identifies the series title, mint mark, and the featured gemstone, arcing around the design in the upper and lower field. |

Part of Perth Mint's long-running colored proof series tying Australian legal tender to gemstones and minerals, this issue focuses on turquoise — a stone with a supply history more complicated than its price suggests. By 2015, the dominant source of gem-quality turquoise had shifted dramatically away from the American Southwest toward Iran and China, with the Sleeping Beauty mine in Arizona having ceased turquoise operations in 2012 under pressure from copper extraction economics.
KM#3110 is one of dozens of thematically similar Perth Mint releases from this period, a mintage strategy that drew criticism from collectors for diluting series coherence.
