| Reverse description | A highly detailed, finely engraved depiction of a common wombat (Vombatus ursinus) facing the viewer three-quarters, rendered with exceptional textural detail in its dense, coarse fur and powerful clawed forepaws. The large numeral '1' appears prominently to the left of the animal, with the denomination legend 'DOLLAR' inscribed in bold serif capitals across the lower field. The composition is set against a deeply mirrored proof background, enhancing the contrast between the frosted relief of the wombat and the polished field. |

The "Masterpieces in Silver" series was produced by the Royal Australian Mint as a collector-focused run offering fine silver versions of circulating designs — the wombat dollar being the rarest draw for completists, since the standard circulation piece rarely turns up in collectible condition. Stuart Devlin's animal reverses, commissioned for decimal currency in 1966, were already nearly four decades old by the time this restrike appeared.
