Additional information

Issued to mark Elizabeth II surpassing Queen Victoria's reign length on September 9, 2015 — the point at which she became Britain's longest-reigning monarch at 63 years and 216 days. The Perth Mint released this piece in the same calendar year as that milestone, which was itself a relatively subdued occasion; the Queen famously resisted any formal celebration, remarking that it was "not a record I ever wanted to set."

The high-relief treatment demanded multiple strikes per planchet, a production constraint the Perth Mint has consistently applied to its premium proof issues of this type.
