Additional information

The Land Series ran from 2008 to 2009 and marked the Royal Australian Mint's first sustained use of pad printing on circulating coinage — a process that applied a coloured ink layer directly onto struck blanks. The frilled-neck lizard appeared on the final coin of the series. Most examples that reached circulation shed their printed colour quickly through handling, making well-preserved coloured specimens noticeably harder to find than the mintage figures alone would suggest.
