Reverse description A finely detailed depiction of a Haast Tokoeka kiwi (Apteryx australis 'Haast') rendered in high relief, shown in profile walking left over rocky ground with native vegetation at its feet. Stylised silver fern fronds frame the central design on both sides and along the upper border. The denomination '$1' appears to the left of the bird in the field, and the species inscription 'HAAST TOKOEKA' is engraved along the lower legend arc.
