New Zealand's kiwi dollar series has long used the bird as a vehicle for collector silver, but the 2015 issue falls under the fourth portrait of Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley — a effigy used on Commonwealth coinage from 1998 until it was retired in favour of Jody Clark's portrait starting in 2015 across most issuing authorities. Whether this piece was struck before or after that transition officially took effect in New Zealand makes its placement at the portrait changeover marginally interesting to date-collectors tracking the Rank-Broadley run.
