Reverse description A kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) perches boldly on a eucalyptus branch extending from the left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed plumage against a mirror-polished field. In the lower centre of the field, a rectangular privy mark depicts the bust of the Roman Emperor Augustus flanked by two columns, inscribed AVGVSTVS above and AUGUST below with CAESAR at the base, commemorating the month of August. The peripheral legend THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA 1 OZ. runs along the upper border and 999 SILVER continues along the right, with the date 2000 at the base, all separated by a beaded inner border.
