Additional information

The Royal Australian Mint's Alphabet Collection ran across three years and produced a coin for each letter, targeting the collector and gift market rather than circulation. The pad-printing technique — essentially a form of industrial ink transfer pressed directly onto the coin's surface — was relatively novel for the RAM at this point and allowed color application without the recessed enamel process used on earlier issues. Adhesion quality on pad-printed RAM coins from this series varies noticeably across the production run.
