Additional information

Issued to mark the centenary of Australian federation and, simultaneously, the 80th anniversary of the Royal Australian Air Force's founding lineage — the Australian Flying Corps having been established in 1912 and the RAAF formally constituted in March 1921. The Royal Australian Mint produced this as one of several commemorative dollars released throughout 2001's federation centenary program, a year that generated an unusually crowded commemorative calendar by any modern Australian minting standard.
