Reverse description The reverse features a dynamic composition of five kangaroos in various stages of movement, rendered in finely frosted relief against the mirror-polished field, a design by Stuart Devlin adopted for the standard Australian dollar coinage. A large numeral 1 is prominently positioned to the lower left of the group, with the denomination legend DOLLAR inscribed in bold raised capitals to the lower right. The naturalistic grouping conveys a sense of motion and depth, with the animals arranged at differing scales to suggest spatial perspective. No additional border legend or inscription is present beyond the denomination.
