Additional information

The Cayman Islands issued a series of silver dollars through the late 1980s and into the 1990s primarily for the collector and proof set market rather than any genuine circulation purpose — the territory's actual commerce ran on a separately denominated Cayman dollar pegged to the US dollar. KM#103 falls within that collector-oriented output, produced in limited quantities for sale through the government treasury and international coin distributors.

Mintage figures for this type were modest and tightly controlled, keeping survivor populations low outside of original packaging.
