Obverse description Right-facing draped bust effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the portrait by Arnold Machin, wearing a tiara and necklace. This is a mule coin struck with the New Zealand obverse die, bearing the legend ELIZABETH II NEW ZEALAND arranged around the upper periphery and the date 1985 in the lower field. The portrait is rendered in a refined relief characteristic of Machin's coinage designs of the period.
