Obverse description Green intaglio printing on white paper, with fine guilloche underprint patterns across the entire face. A right-facing portrait of Queen Elizabeth II occupies the right portion of the note, while the denomination numeral and written value are rendered at centre and left respectively. The issuer's name and legal tender clause run across the upper margin.

Reverse description Green intaglio printing on white paper, dominated by an ornate central cartouche framed by symmetrical acanthus-leaf scrollwork vignettes and radiating guilloche lathe-work. The Chinese characters 壹圓 appear above the English legend ONE DOLLAR within the cartouche, with the denomination numeral $1 placed in each of the four corners. The printer's imprint is set along the lower edge of the cartouche.
