Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of King Edward VII, depicted in robes with ornate imperial state crown, beard and moustache rendered in fine detail by engraver G.W. de Saulles, whose initials 'DES' appear below the truncation. The king is shown in a draped bust, wearing a jewelled collar and ceremonial dress. The peripheral legend reads 'EDWARD VII KING & EMPEROR' in raised Latin capitals, with a beaded inner border encircling the entire obverse field. The mint mark, where applicable, appears to the lower left of the bust.
