Obverse description The national coat of arms of Sierra Leone occupies the central field, depicting a shield charged with a lion passant between two torches and a zigzag base, supported by two lions rampant, with two palm trees rising behind the shield. A scrolled ribbon below the supporters bears the national motto in three parts: UNITY, FREEDOM, and JUSTICE. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF SIERRA LEONE arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 2005 inscribed in the lower field. The small Pobjoy Mint mark (PM) appears at the lower left of the design.
