Liberia's "Dollar" series of the early 2000s was a licensing operation rather than a coinage program in any meaningful sense — private minting firms produced hundreds of themed issues under Liberian authority, few of which ever touched Liberian soil. This particular piece, commemorating Czechoslovakia, was struck years after that country had already ceased to exist, having peacefully dissolved into the Czech Republic and Slovakia on 1 January 1993.
