Obverse description Central device features the coat of arms of the County of Dufferin, depicting a divided shield with a crescent and maple leaves in the upper half and a diamond lozenge in the lower half, flanked by maple leaf sprigs and a ribbon scroll bearing the motto PER VIAS RECTAS. The circular legend around the field reads COUNTY OF DUFFERIN CENTENNIAL, with TRADE DOLLAR and VALID UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 1981 inscribed below the shield in the exergue.
