Obverse description The national coat of arms of Palau occupies the central field, depicting a traditional Palauan scene within a shield-shaped cartouche flanked by decorative scrollwork. The arms feature a figure of a man in a canoe above a sea creature, with the inscription RAINBOWS END on a banner at the base of the shield. Six stars are arrayed in the field to either side of the central device. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1$ appears in the lower field below the arms.
