Part of the ongoing "Wu Hua" series issued through Niue's prolific licensing arrangements, which have made the island's name familiar to collectors worldwide despite a domestic population under 2,000. Niue has issued coins under New Zealand's currency umbrella since the 1970s, though virtually none of these collector pieces ever circulate on the island itself.
Charles III appears here in his first full year as the named sovereign on Niuean issues, following Elizabeth II's death in September 2022.
