Reverse description The reverse is designed in banknote style and features two renditions of the Unicorn of Scotland, one of the Queen's Beasts. At left, a full statue of the crowned and chained unicorn rampant is shown bearing a shield charged with the lion rampant of Scotland. At right, a large close-up portrait of the unicorn's head and neck dominates the field, rendered with fine sculptural detail including a crown collar and chain. At centre, a coloured shield bearing the lion rampant of Scotland — gold on red — is applied as a colour insert, flanked by five-pointed stars. The legend THE UNICORN OF SCOTLAND appears along the lower border, with LEGAL TENDER ISSUE and ONE DOLLAR inscribed at the top, and the numeral 1 at upper right.
